The Guardian Angels football program was established in the early 1960s and is part of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). The focus of our program has always been and still remains to teach the fundamental of the game while at the same time instilling the values of sportsmanship, character and discipline. We pride ourselves on being a successful program, not just measured in wins, but in the positive formation of young Christian men. We have a dedicated group of coaches who strive to improve the skills and performance of each child.

Guardian Angels host three teams.
Freshman – 3rd & 4th graders 2014 Division Champs
Junior Varsity – 5th & 6th graders 2016 Division Champs
Varsity – 7th & 8th graders - 2014 & 2015 Division Champs and Prep Bowl Attendees

COMMITMENT:
Practices start the 1st full week in August and end approximately the 2nd week in October. Practices usually start at 6:00 pm for 2 hours per day, 5 days a week until school starts. After this, practices usually decrease to 1.5 hours per day, 4 days per week (JV & Varsity) and 3 days per week (Freshman).
Games are played either on Saturday or Sunday Afternoon.
PLAYING TIME:
Our coaching staff knows the best way to experience the game of football is to actually play in the game. We are committed to getting all of our player’s game experience regardless of playing level. As a result, we have implemented the following to ensure all kids get an opportunity to play in each game:
If a child attends and participates in every practice for the week then they will be given the opportunity to play a minimum of 8 plays in that week’s game. There are times were a kid maynot play due to the competitiveness of the game and safety.
PRACTICE AND GAME LOCATIONS:
All practices are currently held on the grounds of Bishop Foley High School in Madison Heights. All home games are played at Bishop Foley High School.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
Volunteers are the heart of our organization. We depend on parents putting in time to ensure all games are well organized and run smoothly. We request that each family volunteer six hours during the season which can be achieved in many ways. i.e. gate, concessions, 50/50, chain gang, clock and score keeper, photographer videographer, set up and clean up to name a few.
MOVING FORWARD:
To remain competitive, the GA football program has put forth much effort towards improving our program. For the past few years, our coaching staff has held meetings in the off-season to better prepare our teams. Coaches are also expected to attend coaching clinics to ensure they stay up-to-date with current techniques. Players are encouraged to attend camps in the off- season to further enhance their skills. Video equipment has been purchased to allow us to tape our games and review them with the players. Lastly, our equipment is constantly upgraded to ensure players are properly protected and outfitted with the best equipment available.
COST TO PARTICIPATE:
The cost for the 2015 season is $160 which includes all equipment except football cleats or athletic supporter/cup (each player is required to provide his own).
